I never take for granted any time a person gives me the honor of capturing their wedding day, but it's extra special when the couple are people I know personally.
I got to know both Asa and Abby while we were in college at Arkansas Tech. Both were ag students, and I was even Asa's resident assistant for a year. Abby and I had the same degree path and career interests, and a little over a year ago, she joined my team at our full-time jobs, where I got to know her even better. Abby is one of the kindest, most thoughtful people I know and is also a talented photographer herself, so I was unbelievably honored when she trusted me to be her wedding photographer.
Abby and Asa's ceremony included a heartfelt ring-warming ceremony, where the couple passed their ring amongst their closest family and friends before they performed their vows. After the ceremony, we headed to the party barn for a delicious dinner, and the couple took the time to pose for a photo with each of their guests. Finally, guests were invited to explore the farm and meet the stars of their wedding venue!
The Scruggs' wedding was held at Bacchus Family Adventure Farm in Lamar, Arkansas. I've enjoyed visiting their farm in the past, but this was my first time attending a wedding there. The family has built a beautiful pavilion to hold ceremonies and a "party barn" with plenty of room to celebrate. The highlight of the farm, however, would have to be the animals. I don't just mean cows and chickens (although they have them as well), but Bacchus Family Adventure farm is complete with a camel, zebra, kinkajous, wallabies, and many more exotic animals that you can see up close, pet, and feed.
Kids and grandparents alike all lit up with joy as they stuck their hands out to let the different animals nibble up pellets. While most don't expect a petting zoo when they attend a wedding, it was such a fun ending to a special day.
